Pain management

Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy have been proven to treat medical conditions effectively such as, digestive disorders, skin problems, migraine, headaches, medical procedures as well as the side effects of chemotherapy, cancer and radiation. Immune diseases can also benefit from medical applications of hypnosis.

depression, erectile function, fertility, fibroid healing, asthma, back pain, brain injury, cancer, headache, liver conditions, hypertension, immunity, IBS, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord healing surgery and recovery, neck conditions, pregnancy and childbirth, skin conditions, and tinnitus, and a myriad of other medical needs.

Hypnosis addresses the mind body link and this is often recommended to those having to deal with long term pain. The stress and anxiety that comes with long term pain cam make the sensation worse and hypnotherapy can help you cope as well as the way the mind responds to pain and physical sensation.

Helping to reduce this stress and change the thought patterns related to pain can make a huge difference to the perception of pain. Hypnotherapy is often used to achieve this.

Hypnosis focuses the mind on relaxation and letting go of distracting thoughts. You conscious mind is temporarily tuned out opening you up to the power of suggestion. This is where I can make suggestions to encourage pain relief.

Hypnotherapy will not convince you that your pain does not exist. Instead it help to manage anxiety and fear you may have relating to your pain. Hypnosis will help to relax your mind and reduce stress therefore helping you to become less reactive to pain.

Hypnosis for pain can refocus your mind using visualisation techniques such as imagining you are somewhere nice like a beach. Thinking about the details of your nice place such as what it looks like, feels like and concentrating on minor details can help distract you from your pain.

Which type of therapy is suitable for Pain Management?

The most effective type of therapy is tailored to your individual situation and needs. Many people find Hypnotherapy and NLP as a talking therapy, works to effectively enhance their pain management. Everyone responds differently to therapy so the number of sessions you will require will vary from person to person. We will discuss this in the initial consultation.

Hypnotherapy is not guaranteed to work but many people have used it successfully as a part of their pain management tool kit.
